Day Scholars
| Half of the scholar population are day scholars with most taking full advantage of the network of free transport offered by the College with buses arriving at the College at 8.40am and leaving at 5.40pm. With the exception of the shorter day there is remarkably little difference between life as a day or boarding scholar, for each day scholar is attached to a boarding house and is invited to participate fully in the life of the house, thus ensuring that there is no division between day and boarding scholars that can occur in so many schools. Day scholars have their own Day Housemaster and Housemistress who look after their particular needs and who, along with the tutor, are the first point of contact for their parents. The College provides opportunities for day scholars to undertake most of their prep (homework) during the school day so that if they manage their time correctly they will only have about 30 minutes prep left to do after they have returned home.
If there is a school activity that entails either a very early start or a very late finish then, provided that the space is available, day scholars can board overnight and on these occasions no charge is made. There is also the opportunity for day scholars to board if their parents are away for a short period of time. On such occasions a nightly charge is made. |
