Preparatory School (8-11 years)
In the Preparatory School, which welcomes both day scholars and boarders, the emphasis continues to be placed upon literacy and numeracy as part of a broad and balanced curriculum. Whilst class teachers take the majority of lessons, the sciences, modern languages, technology, art, music and sport are all taught by subject specialists.

The curriculum has been carefully developed to lead directly into that of the senior college and the use of senior school facilities such as the science laboratories, the Murch Sports Centre, the Laming Music School and the new Art and Design Centre, help to make the transition from preparatory to senior school a smooth one.

Trips and visits are an important part of the learning experience and regular outings, visits and field trips are arranged. Music features strongly within, and beyond, the normal curriculum.  Instrumental tuition is available for all orchestral instruments.

Beyond the classroom, activities such as horse riding are immensely popular.  The Preparatory school is fully involved in the college's wide range of sporting activities and all scholars have the opportunity to represent the college at school, regional and national level.
