Senior : Science, Technology and Mathematics
The college boasts three modern, well-equipped laboratories, a lecture theatre, and ICT facilities that place it at the cutting edge of technological development.  There is a campus wide wireless network (LAN) so that any scholar with a wireless enabled laptop will automatically be on the school network and, through that, on the internet from wherever they are.  Internet use is silently monitored and censored using sophisticated software.  All scholars have their own e-mail account and keep in regular contact with their friends and family.

The majority of  classrooms have interactive whiteboards and many of the lesson notes, powerpoint ® presentations and video clips used in lessons are then available for scholars to download from the  College's server on to their own computers.  This is of enormous value for revision and of particular benefit to children with dyslexic difficulties.

Not surprisingly, Bedstone also enjoys an  exceptionally well-equipped Art and Design centre with state of the art CAD (Computer aided design) and CAM (computer aided manufacture) equipment  and excellent facilities for fine art and ceramics.

All scholars are taught three separate sciences to GCSE by subject specialists.  The more able scientists will take three separate GCSE examinations in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.  Less able scientists will take a co-ordinated science examination.  The majority of sixth form scholars continue to study one or more science subjects to AS or A2 level and each year a substantial number of leavers go on to read science-related courses at University.

Mathematics is a core curriculum subject and is taught to every scholar up to GCSE.  The popularity of the  subject is such that the majority of scholars choose mathematics as one of their subjects at A level.

Design Technology is taught throughout the college and is an increasingly popular option choice at GCSE, AS, and A2 level.

Computer skills are taught throughout the lower college and all scholars become proficient in the use of industry-standard word-processor, spreadsheet and database packages, DTP (Desk top publishing) and, of course, keyboard skills. At the end of the third year (National Curriculum year 9) all scholars take the CLAIT (Computer Literacy And Information Technology) examination which provides them with a well-recognised employment qualification.  From the fourth year onwards the IT centre, the library IT facility and all other ICT areas become resource areas used by scholars in their own time.  Supervised use of the internet is encouraged throughout the college.  Indeed, Bedstone was one of the first schools in the world to have an interactive downloadable prospectus on the Web in 1994. ICT is offered at GCSE level for those interested in pursuing the subject further.
