Excellent standard of entries at the Interhouse Art Competition

The Interhouse Art Competition was adjudicated this year by Nicola Haigh, former Head of Art at Moor Park School and now a freelance artist working predominantly in textiles. At the adjudication, Nicola reported on the high standard of entries while she picked out examples of various artistic elements to feature. She paced the adjudication very well and gave her observations in a lively, engaging manner. The adjudication, as well as the popular vote, was completely impartial as none of the works were identifiable. Hopton House came out victorious this year and congratulations to them for achieving high marks in all four of the age categories.

At the same time as the adjudication was being decided, members of the school were able to vote for their own favourites and the following awards were made by the popular vote:

AWARDED THE POPULAR VOTE, JUNIOR CATEGORY – Ella T (for “The Tree”)

AWARDED THE POPULAR VOTE, LOWER SCHOOL CATEGORY – Yun N (for “Fantasy Scene”), who had the highest vote of all.

AWARDED THE POPULAR VOTE, INTERMEDIATE CATEGORY – Theodora I (for “Pegasus”)

AWARDED THE POPULAR VOTE, SENIOR CATEGORY – Jane Z (for “Ballet of the Animals”)

The soiree which followed in the early evening allowed invited guests to see the work of the GCSE and A level students, and talk to the students about their work. There was much to feature and Mr Smith was pleased to be able to make a number of awards:

AWARD FOR BEST PIECE OF ARTWORK – Jane Z (for “Ballet of the Animals‘’)

AWARD FOR BEST ART HISTORY SKETCHBOOK – Rebecca W
