Sixth Form students visited Oxford recently as part of the new ‘Oxbridge’ preparation programme. The trip was arranged by Mr Gajadharsingh and Ms Simmons who are both graduates of the University of Oxford (Lincoln College and St. Anne’s respectively).

The day started with a tour of Lincoln College conducted by two undergraduates. They spent over an hour showing the Bedstone students all that Lincoln has to offer, including the impressive 15th century dining hall and library. The Lincoln undergraduates answered questions on the applications process, interview preparation and what life is like at Oxford University.

The second part of the visit was a trip to the Mathematics Institute. This new building was completed only three years ago and is a model of world class design, with much of the building resonating with mathematical ideas and concepts. There was also a chance to discuss the mathematics course options with a current undergraduate.

Let’s hope that the visit has lit the fire that will encourage a few of our students to apply to study at one of the world’s great universities
