IB Authorised School for the Career-related Programme (CP)

Bedstone College is authorised to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Career-related Programme (CP). The school is authorised as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy – a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Bedstone College believes is important for our students.

The IB Career-related Programme (CP) is an innovative education framework for students aged 16 to 19. The aim of the CP is to provide students with an excellent foundation to support their further studies and specialized training, as well as ensuring their success in the workforce.
The CP combines highly regarded and internationally recognized IB Diploma Programme courses with an approved career-related study and a unique CP core.

CP students engage with a rigorous study programme that genuinely interests them while gaining transferable and lifelong skills in applied knowledge, critical thinking, communication, and cross-cultural engagement. They are well prepared to succeed at institutions of higher learning.
As the IB’s fourth programme, the CP provides a comprehensive educational framework that links the academic rigour of the Diploma Programme and the international-mindedness of the IB classroom into a tailored, career-focused pathway.

The CP framework is built around three interconnected elements:

• at least two Diploma Programme courses
• a CP core that includes approaches to learning, community and service, language development and a reflective project
• an approved career-related study – students at Bedstone choose one from: BTEC Agriculture; BTEC Sports; or BTEC Business Studies

CP students deepen their understanding in general areas of knowledge and are eager to participate in further studies. To date, the vast majority of CP graduates have continued on to further and higher education. Students are engaged in a holistic education model that fosters an enthusiasm for lifelong learning. Moreover, their engagement in meaningful service learning gives them opportunities to make a positive difference in their local communities. As a result of the CP, students develop the self-confidence to participate successfully in the world around them.
